The (bulk of) the Patriot Act may be dead, but its legacy lives on: The so-called "Freedom Act", with its feel-good-but-ultimately-meaningless "reforms" on government surveillance powers, has passed the Senate and is on its way to Barack "Let's Spy On The People We Aren't Murdering From The Skies" Obama -- who will naturally sign it while claiming from the other corner of his mouth to favor transparency and oversight.
