To the wayside christianity..to the wayside

I won't lie. I have a problem with Christians. The majority of Christians anyway. Those I've met and have read about.

I try to go about my days not even thinking much about Christians and their hypocrisy. It's a hard feat when it's virtually everywhere. All these public figures spouting Christian values and then getting caught out in homosexual activity, drunk driving, divorce, and adultery.

Real Word Australia. "This is the true story of seven strangers, picked to live in a house and have their lives taped to find out what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real."

There's a young Christian woman on this season of the Real World. In the beginning episodes, all you see of her is a drink in her hand, a nasty, mean attitude towards people around her, and contemplation of her cheating on her boyfriend with whom she is already sexually active. Well, along comes the infamous Australian gay pride parade and her struggle about attending it. In the end, she decided to go during the day and meets up with a Christian street band. She runs up to this band and sings the song, with big fat crocodile tears running down her face as she praises her Lord in the street for all to see. When it comes time for the night parade, this young woman is too worked up to attend. She has seen the light, !by God!, and she just can not support something she knows and was taught is evil and wrong. Of course, the light went out the next day.. because the very next morning, this supposed all encompassing Christian valued woman of morals opens her foul mouth to complain about one of her roommates who is singing Amazing Grace in the shower. Her speaking to another roommate, "Ugh, I'm sorry I can't hear you because Christina Aguilera gone bad up there just hit her C note" The love right there was awe inspiring. A couple of other statements, (insert a derision filled tone) "I went to a McDonalds and like, there was this foreign girl who could barely speak English and she didn't understand that I wanted to sample a crunchy Mcflurry, so she told me all the other kinds they had and I chose oreo but like, then she told me they were out of oreo and I could get a crunchy Mcflurry but since she couldn't fucking understand that I didn't want a crunchy McFlurry because I couldn't sample it I just wanted to tell her, here take my money and go get some English lessons" Man, that bitch is golden in the eyes of God, isn't she?!

It's fairly obvious I can't stand the chick, am intolerant of her and her kind. And I don't have to be tolerant, kind and forgiving because I'm not a Christian. I try to espouse those traits because I know it's the right way to be and I know that without going to church, reading a bible, or being religious. But this girl, she is a Christian and she forgets about it when most convenient for her. When it works for her. She is the epitome of "pick and choose the sin" type Christian and it's that type of widely known Christian that becomes more prevalent in turning people completely off of Christianity and religion in general.

How dare the Christian who has sex before marriage, continuously and without remorse, open their mouth to say homosexuality is wrong!

How dare the Christian picks on other people judge the morals of a homosexual!

How dare the Christian who has unclean thoughts turn his thoughts to another he believes to be sinning?

How dare the sinful, self righteous Christian criticize or judge anyone other than himself?

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

Why are religious organisations not striving for the above goal, rather than harping on the sin of man, when Jesus said no man is without sin? Why aren't they out there recruiting, preaching the love of Jesus, rather than focusing on the flaws of their brothers and sisters? Why? In doing this, they don't have to focus on their own flaws, their own sins, their own judgment day. They can happily commit their own sins without thought because their thoughts are on another sinful brother.

Are we losing religion and morals? Perhaps, but why? My answer- Religious organisations are actually turning people off by being so aggressive about the least mentioned things in the bible. More and more we find out about Christian hypocrisy and we become repulsed by their "values". It's ironic really, when you think about it. I mentioned above that I know to be a good person without having read the entire Bible and without consistently frequenting a place of worship. But when you really think about it, I was taught those morals by someone. Someone before me was taught, etc and so on. So morals probably do have to do with religion and today religion is turning people off of morals. Perhaps it's because morals have changed and it's the supposed "moral people" of today who forced such change.
