On my main home screen I've got Brightness Level which lets me dim the screen for comfortable viewing in the darkness. Even at the dimmest setting, my phone is still too bright. Also for night-time, Tiny Flashlight comes in handy. It lets you use your LED light as a flashlight.

I use Server Monitor to keep track of whether my web servers are running.

Hybrid Stopwatch is a nice stopwatch app that I use to keep track of how long I'm working on something.

For games, my favorite is Bubbles Touch. I'm kind of addicted to it. You just shoot balls to match colors in order to clear them, and you can save your game and return to it later.
