is to just get a plug adapter - I managed to get one for about US$8 before I left for India, which would work for my phone in addition to my laptop (not that it was used for anything other than my laptop - turns out my phone service was not international at all).
You'd probably be able to get one cheaper if you went for the Aus/US adapter - mine was one of those all-in-one gizmos that would work to convert from and to almost any plug in the world!
