I did spec out what should be a near-silent mini-ITX form factor computer on Newegg; came to just over $200 including shipping, but it only has a single on-board NIC. Fortunately, I have no shortage of NICs around here, so adding one is trivial.
Although, I did just recently discover that all this time I've had a dual-port gigabit NIC lying around unused, still sealed in its original packaging! It's PCI-Express, though, so wouldn't work in the system I spec'd above, but makes it worth re-examining the options to see if I could build a system to use it...
