i've got a lot of parts laying around, nearly enough for a desktop. basically, my current desktop started as a dell 7 years ago or so - none of the original parts are left, and some have been replaced several times (i'm on my fourth soundcard, for instance). so i'm gonna put the parts together as a computer for [private]'s youngest brother, since i think he'd love one and could definitely use it.
so here's what i've got:
Dell MB E210882
1X AGP
3X PCI
2X 512MB Infineon DDR
(i forget what the chipset is, i think it's Intel ~2GHz)
Maxtor HDD 250GB IDE
Maxtor HDD 80GB IDE
Samsung DVD IDE
Turtle Beach Santa Cruz audio PCI
SB Audigy 2 audio PCI
Soundblaster X-Fi audio PCI
GeForce 6800 GT OC AGP
Antec PSU 450W
getting:
case
USB extension cord ([private] has a spare mouse, but it's a laptop mouse so the cord is like 3' long)
1GB DDR RAM
keyboard
1x 80mm fan
and probably some speakers.
i've got a nice version of XP on the 250GB HDD already (it's used to that MB already) but i might just wipe it and install the cracked and slimmed-down version of vista i'm running on my desktop and laptop.
w/out the speakers, i can get all that extra stuff for around $70+shipping at newegg, since i don't think he needs all sorts of fancy stuff (afaik, he's never had a computer of his own before, which i think is a travesty).
am i missing anything?
