So, here's the "inconvenient truth": Yet again, the number of guns and gun owners in the US has increased significantly, while the incidence of violent crime has actually decreased at the same time, reaching a new 37-year low (and a new 47-year low for murder alone).

This is as court decision after court decision is striking down more and more draconian gun control laws (such as the veritable bans in D.C. and Chicago, each of which saw significant decreases in murders afterwards), and new gun control laws are, well, nigh-non-existent!

So as we yet again disprove the dogma that more guns means more crime (and provide fuel for the contrapositive that more guns means less crime), I put forth this challenge:

Justify the need for new gun control laws.

For bonus points, justify the President deliberately avoiding the democratic process to enact additional gun control against the wills of both the people and Congress.

Yes, the source below is the NRA-ILA, admittedly not an unbiased source. However, all the facts presented in it are independently verifiable, and it's easy to separate fact from editorial here.
