You've got to hand it to the guy, he knows how to make a PR disaster :P
I don't actually think it's really a bad thing, it's not like he's hands-on with the various containment plans, and he can't really do anything until the situation is contained and his engineers can stop trying to fix it and do a proper post-mortem. But it's dumb to hand that kind of headline to your enemies.
