The Harm to Florida's Tourism

Over 1 million Floridians are employed in the travel industry, Florida's #1 industry, which generates $60 billion/year. With oil now washing up on Florida's beaches, one can only predict that tourism will decline. Imagine paying to get away and stay at one of the hotels along Destin Beach (above) and when you get there with your kids, you find that oil has completely fouled the beach.

How will Florida business owners be compensated for the loss of tourism that will inevitably result from this oil disaster?
