In an effort to combat my ever-worsening anxiety issues, I've decided to start taking control of the few things I CAN control. This includes my exercise and dietary habits. According to the nutritionist, I have a "moderate" activity level (my campus is ~8000 acres, and I walk around a lot!), and in order to lose the weight I want by the date I arbitrarily fixed, I need to restrict myself to 1400 calories/day.
So how do I eat snacks/small meals without spending a fortune or wrecking my diet plan? I can't afford a salad a day (seriously tight budget), so I've been trying to make vegetable soups and stews for meals. As far as between meals (or supplements, more often) I've been eating carrots. A lot of carrots. And sugar-free instant breakfast mix.
What else can I do? What's low-fat, low-sugar, sticks to you for a while, and doesn't cost a small fortune? Granola used to be my go-to answer, but now I don't know.
I guess what I'm really getting at is, "What do you healthy/dieting folks eat when you don't have time to eat? Or your last meal wasn't up to snuff?" Thanks so much!
(If it helps, I'm not vegetarian, but I can't eat shellfish or soy. Go fig!)
