So, I went to the clinic, and I'm 90% better...

That doctor was a fuckin magician. What the hell.

Basically, he says I tore my fascia (thin layer of flesh, the stuff that coats a steak), and that when you tear your fascia, it usually bunches up and wrinkles, which makes it downright excruciating.

Solution? Cause a thousand times more pain.

He 'ironed' my fascia. Basically, he rammed his thumbs into my flesh as hard as he possibly could, starting on my forearm and going up my arm to my shoulder. He found the tear right where I told him the pain was, and it was almost as bad as a kidneystone when he rubbed through it, and when he stopped I was glaring at him, ready to kill. "Alright, try moving it now."

...FULL range of motion, with absolutely no pain. It's still just a little bit tender when I lift anything, and the rubbing created a bruise sensation (which sucks, but is so worth the trade off), but the pain is GONE. Like, what the hell?!

He said if I'd seen any other doctor, or if I'd seen him four years ago, I woulda gone through a long, drawn out series of X-rays and shit to establish what it was and how to treat it. But he has an injury just like this himself, and he learned this trick while dealing with that. I can also do it to myself if it becomes problematic again, but it should be fine, especially if I don't favor it--he said I need to keep using it, as much as is reasonable.

He also told me to be more erganomical at work--basically, try to get higher than the pumps (I have cinder blocks to stand on, I guess I'll start using them) and try to use my shoulder more than my wrist with the pumping motion.

I can't even describe how amazed and shocked and happy I am. That...was fucking obscene. There's no way in hell I expected to walk out with anything but perhaps a referral to go see some specialist or some shit like that. Holy gods.

I'm so glad I went in. I'm still not quite 100%, partly cuz of the bruising he inflicted, but I feel great.

:)
