This is my first attempt at putting something up here, so please be gentle. :)


BEAUTIFUL
I want to be beautiful
But how do I show
All the longing within me
To the world

I have it in me to be
Almost anything
So when does the swan come
And replace the duckling?

I have fought and cried and hurt and bled
For what I thought was right
For who I want to be
For where I want to go

I have climbed and fallen
Don't drop that curtain
When is it my turn to bow?

I want to be beautiful
I want to shine
So why am I always
Left so far behind?

Life ticks by me
Moments, hours, days, years
All the while I pray and strive
For release from these fears

I want to be beautiful
I want to be me, just me
I want to be the angel inside
And not the unfinished painting I see
When I look at me...

When will I be?
