Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has pulled S.649. It's still technically on the Senate's calendar and he can reintroduce it at a moment's notice, but at least for now there will not be a vote on it.

Near as I can tell, S.649 expands background checks, but differs from the Manchin and Grassley amendments in how far it goes -- specifically, it goes less far than either of those two. I'm still not entirely clear on the differences, though.
