I wouldn't be at all surprised if the station didn't contact the NTSB to confirm the names first -- just asked whoever gave them the list if they confirmed, or even just made it up on the spot that it had been confirmed.
It's today's American media racing to always be "first", they get things so dramatically wrong so very much it's a wonder anyone listens to a thing they say anymore.
