Any experience with temporary hearing loss?

So, yesterday, we went to the shooting range. It was fun, but I (very stupidly) didn't pay much attention to my rifle knocking loose my earmuffs during some rapid-fire shooting (was pretty cool though, I was sending a plastic soda bottle flying all over, and even managed to land a couple of hits on it while it was still moving!).

Anyway, afterward, I definitely had some ringing in my right ear. My hearing in that ear is definitely reduced, but already I have noticed improvement. We're at about the 18-hour (give or take an hour or two -- [private] and I didn't really pay much attention to the time when we went) mark; some quick Googling suggests that temporary hearing loss can last 16-48 hours.

So, I'm trying to keep that ear protected (yesterday I was wearing my earmuffs afterward, although keeping my left ear uncovered so I could hear the TV; this morning [private] went to the store and picked up some disposable ear plugs for me, and I'm wearing one right now). And crossing my fingers that it is in fact temporary -- that it seems to be improving with time is giving me hope that that's all it is.

I guess we'll see what happens. Should probably give a doctor a call tomorrow, see if there's something else I should be doing for it.
