The "Just World" Theory

Or more accurately, the Just World Fallacy. People who subscribe to this fallacy believe intuitively that people get what they deserve, and everything just makes sense.
If you believe in a just world, poor people are poor because they deserve to be. Rich people are rich because they deserve to be. Men dominate government due to their superior merit and no other reason. Inequalities in society accurately reflect the deficiencies in various sub-populations, and are not a result of bias, unfairness, or correctable problems.
Taken further, the Just World Fallacy essentially blames the victim: a person is mugged...well he should have known better than to be in that neighborhood at night. A girl is date raped...why was she coming on to that guy and being a tease?
People who think this way tend to be politically conservative.
